I have five girls, ages 1, 5, 9, 12, & 14. They ALL like different kinds of music. However, I am selective about what songs they hear. I got tired of hearing about how this song is okay, even though other songs on the same CD weren't. So, we purchased a membership to one of the online file sharing sites that actually screen files. They can now make and mix their own CDs and I can be as selective as to what they hear!

We use Limewire and I love it. Mine aren't little, but you are right--some of the stuff out there is pretty bad. For me, I just like burning my own CDs because then I only hear music I like!
